Sandmark Custom Homes attended the International Builders Show (IBS), exploring safety innovations, new design trends, and industry connections.
Viva Las Vegas! Earlier this month, Mark and Sandy, along with a group of friends, had the unforgettable opportunity to see The Eagles perform live at the Sphere in Las Vegas. Renowned for their iconic harmonies and timeless classics, the band delivered an extraordinary show, amplified by the Sphere’s groundbreaking 360-degree immersive visuals. From the haunting chords of “Hotel California” to the laid-back rhythms of “Take It Easy,” each song was a nostalgic journey, set against a breathtaking digital backdrop unique to the Sphere. It was truly a once-in-a-lifetime concert and the perfect way to kick off their Las Vegas trip for the International Builders’ Show (IBS).
After the concert, it was time to dive into Design & Construction Week at IBS, the largest homebuilding industry event in over 16 years. The exhibition was brimming with cutting-edge building materials, emerging design trends, and advancements in construction safety. Builders Mutual Insurance Company, in partnership with the Job Safety Institute (JSI), proudly sponsored the expanded Safety Zone, which doubled in size this year. Their mission? To ensure every worker gets home safely—a cause Mark is passionately committed to as a member of the Builders Mutual Board of Directors.
Beyond safety, the show floor showcased an array of innovative product designs from top manufacturers. Mark and Sandy explored advancements in fireplaces, garage doors, bathroom fixtures, tiles, countertops, and more, while connecting with vendors and suppliers. They also met with their trusted partner, Savaria Elevators, who expressed gratitude for Sandmark’s dedication to installing premium-quality elevators in their homes. A special shoutout goes to Joey Austin of Atlantic Elevators for consistently delivering exceptional service!
The event was also filled with compelling keynotes and industry milestones. Scott Turner, Secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), spoke at the NAHB Board Meeting, offering valuable insights on the future of housing and homebuilding. A proud highlight for Mark and Sandy was seeing Buddy Hughes, a long-time friend from Lexington, NC, installed as Chairman of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). Having known Buddy for over 25 years, it was a special moment to witness a fellow North Carolinian take on such a prestigious role.
To close out the week, attendees enjoyed a vibrant opening ceremony featuring David Spade and an unforgettable closing celebration with country music star Chris Janson. The trip was a perfect blend of inspiration, innovation, and connections, and Sandmark is excited to bring fresh ideas and energy to their future projects!
