When did you start Scott Team Realty?
We started Scott Team Realty in 2002. We officially opened the doors to our office in the Marketplace Shopping Center on January 3, 2003.
What is your favorite thing about your job?
Helping people figure it out what’s best for them when it comes to Outer Banks real estate. Buyers often times don’t know exactly where they want to be, and owners often need help figuring out what to ask for a property and when it would be best for them to put their property on the market. It’s often a puzzle and I enjoy filling in some of those pieces they need help with.
If you could do another job for one day what would it be?
Assuming it is just for one day it would be a pilot of one of those banner planes that goes up and down the beach. It would be great to see the beach from that angle.
How long have you known Mark and Sandy?
I’ve known Mark and Sandy probably 20 years. When they moved to the Outer Banks Sandy came to work for the real estate company I was managing. Sandy and I did grow up in the same Northern Virginia area, so we knew a bunch of the same people growing up.
What is your favorite thing to do on the Outer Banks?
Over the years I’ve really enjoyed surfing those big hurricane swells before the hurricane showed up. There’s nothing like the adrenaline rush and feeling of accomplishment riding a wave that’s twice as tall as I am. Those big waves though are a little scarier than they used to be to me though.
What brought you to the Outer Banks?
I got tired of it snowing in April in Boston, wanted to be on the coast and in an area where there was an opportunity. Between semesters of my last year of school, I drove the whole coast of North Carolina and decided the Outer Banks was the place for me.
Favorite Vacation Spot?
Probably the mountains of Virginia. I like hiking up there and it is completely different than the beach.
