Sandmark Custom Homes remodel of the Brown’s home in 1998 was our first large scale remodel, in which the entire house was transformed.
Neighbors Barbara and Jerry Brown contacted us about renovating their Southern Shores beach cottage on the Outer Banks. The goal was to update and enlarge the home to accommodate their family.
To accomplish the Brown’s beach house goals, we removed the roof and expanded the house. The top level remodel of the home included the kitchen, powder room, dining and great room, a master suite, and decks with ocean views.
The middle-level renovation consisted of expanding three bedrooms and adding more decking. On the ground floor, we added a laundry room, storage room, recreation room, and a bathroom.
The exterior renovation included new windows, siding, decks, and of course, a new roof. The plumbing, electric, and HVAC were also updated to handle the renovation.
In 2002 we added a swimming pool with decking, a gazebo, and a home office on the middle level. We’re discussing a future elevator project for 2018!
We entered the Brown home renovation project in the 2000 Parade of Home’s; many people were amazed at the transformation.
Nineteen years later, we still celebrate the 4th of July together! Barbara and Jerry spend most of the summer at their beach house with plenty of visits from family and friends. We even manage to find time for pool days and dinner while they’re in town.
