It’s hard to believe 2024 is coming to a close, and soon we’ll be welcoming a brand-new year. Where has the time gone?
First and foremost, we want to extend a heartfelt Thank You to all of our clients who made 2024 another incredible year for Sandmark Custom Homes. You are the backbone of our success, and we’re endlessly grateful for your support. Your kind referrals and stories about building your homes with us have traveled far and wide—to family, friends, neighbors, and colleagues across the country. We feel truly fortunate to call the stunning Outer Banks of North Carolina our home and to work alongside you in designing and building your dream homes.
2024 was full of special milestones, both personally and professionally. We began the year celebrating a joyous occasion—our son Sam’s wedding to Jessie on April 24th. Surrounded by family and friends, we gathered on the beaches of Nags Head for a picture-perfect ceremony. And in true Outer Banks fashion, while a rainstorm loomed nearby, the skies stayed clear and beautiful for their special day. After the celebrations, Sam and Jessie settled into married life in Charlottesville, Virginia, with their two labs, Pepper and Jalapeno.
Shortly after, on May 1st, Mark underwent surgery to treat an aneurysm in his wrist. Thankfully, he is doing well, and we’re grateful for the wonderful care he received throughout the process.
On May 13th, our family grew as we welcomed our grandson, Jett Wilder Damico, into the world. Making an early arrival in Wilmington, North Carolina, Jett has brought so much joy into our lives. Mark and I cherished the time we spent with him and his parents in the days after his birth and throughout the summer, enjoying visits at both their home in Wilmington and ours here in the Outer Banks. Becoming grandparents has been an indescribable blessing—there truly aren’t enough words to express how much we adore Jett. Watching our daughter become a loving and incredible mother has been an equally amazing experience. It’s hard to believe Jett is already seven months old!
However, this year was also marked by heartbreak as we said goodbye to two cherished members of our family. Our beloved lab, Layla, who brought nearly 15 years of love and joy to our lives, passed away this summer. Not long after, in October, Amanda and Rocky had to say an unexpected farewell to their sweet golden retriever, Zoey, who had just turned 8. Losing both Layla and Zoey so close together has been incredibly difficult, but we take comfort in knowing that they’re now reunited with Andy.
Thanksgiving gave us an opportunity to come together as a family and celebrate with plenty of home-cooked food, football, and special moments with Jett. As the year wraps up, we’re heading to Asheville for the NC Home Builders Association meetings and looking forward to spending time with our extended home builder family.
To all of our clients, we wish you a joyful holiday season surrounded by loved ones and all the best in the year ahead. Thank you for being such an important part of our 2024—we can’t wait to see what 2025 has in store!
