Roberta Graham Home Remodel, Duck North Carolina

The Roberta Graham Remodel in Duck, North Carolina

Sandmark Custom Homes met Roberta Graham in 2005 and began a series of remodels on her beautiful beach home that has continued over the last 12 years.

The house was used as a second home and an escape from a hectic life in Chicago. In the fall of 2005, we began the first remodel which included a pop out of the front of the house for a new dining area and great room extension. The extension allowed us to also expand the kitchen. We added new decks and installed new siding.

In 2012 Roberta made plans to retire and make Duck, NC her permanent residence. In preparation, we expanded the great room again (towards the west), added an elevator, expanded the house to the north on 3 levels to increase the size of the master bedroom, mid floor bedroom, and added a lower level bedroom. The master bathroom was remodeled and a new bathroom was added on the lower level. On the mid-level, we reconfigured the laundry room, stairs, and foyer to allow for the elevator. The second master bedroom and bathroom were remodeled. On t, e lower level we created a secondary entrance, large closet, new mechanical room, and new storage area along with the bedroom and bathroom.

In 2016, we remodeled the last bathroom and installed a new Radiance Rail deck railing system.

Roberta decorated the house, shopping locally for more items. Most people comment that Roberta’s House looks like it came out of Coastal Living Magazine and we agree with that assessment. Her use of bold colors especially the deep blue’s make the entire house pop!

Roberta volunteers at the Outer Banks Hospital. I was lucky enough to work with Roberta on the 2017 Outer Banks Hospital Gala and we are now planning the 2018 Outer Banks Hospital Gala, which takes place on Saturday, February 10, 2018, at Duck Woods Country Club in Southern Shores. The event will have a “New York New York” theme. All funds and donations from this event remain on the Outer Banks to underwrite the campaigns and programs of The Outer Banks Hospital Development Council.
