New Sandmark Custom Home in Martin’s Point NC
Last year a family trusted us to make their dream of living on the Outer Banks of North Carolina a reality. With a demanding job in New York City and commuting to their home in Connecticut, this husband and wife of three active children decided it was time to call the Outer Banks home.
The dream started when they purchased four “Ducks” or Duck homes, known as Bob, Bebe, Starry Starry Night, and Bella. Over the past four years, Sandmark has remodeled each of these rental homes. These unique and beautiful rental homes are comfortable, and offer an array of amenities, with a classic coastal cottage feel. Many friends and family have enjoyed holidays in each of the homes. Renters have enjoyed these homes the most, as they average 30 weeks of rent on each house! Improvements and upkeep to your rentals properties make a difference in rentability.
We started looking for lots or existing homes for the dream project and heard about a home in Martin’s Point. We toured the house with our clients; it was the first house ever built in Martin’s Point. The location was perfect and our clients decided to purchase the property and build their dream home.
The goal of the house design was to maximize views of the sound from as many rooms as possible. The plans call for (4) four bedrooms with attached baths and a master suite. Also included are a kitchen with a large pantry and hearth room, a formal dining room, large living room, two offices, a game room, a three-car garage, pool, hot tub and many decks.
This classic coastal home has many distinct features. The architect listened to how they live and incorporated some of those features from their home in Connecticut into the design. The design also features a spectacular curved staircase in the foyer, as well as two other staircases: a private spiral staircase from one of the home offices to the master suite, and a back staircase from the kitchen to the game room and children’s rooms. You’ll find Custom inset beaded cabinetry throughout; in bathrooms, closets, kitchen, pantry, laundry, dining room, offices and wet bar. Walnut hardwood floors on the stairs, and on the main level with a compass rose inset in the foyer. Three fireplaces are found inside the home, one in the living room, another in the hearth room and one in the master bedroom. The exterior of the home features a stone foundation and two stone chimneys, cedar shake roof shingles, Pella windows, and Savanah smooth siding.
We are working on the finishes for the home; the family will be moving in by the end of August in time for school to start! We are excited about this project. Here are some photos of the project.
