Join us for Cancer Shucks! It’s a fantastic hospital event that combines an oyster roast and a low-country shrimp boil at Pirate’s Cove Pavilion on Friday, October 27th. Get ready for live music from the amazing Blue Crab Boys. All proceeds from this event will benefit the Outer Banks Health OBX Cancer Cares Fund, which provides crucial support to cancer patients and survivors. This fund offers everything from free cancer screenings to patient resources, early detection programs, educational events, and even a free wig program.
As the chairperson of the Outer Banks Health Development Council for the past 3 years, I’ve witnessed our organization’s incredible growth and the impact of our programs and services on the community. I’m proud to share that the campaign for the new Cowell Cancer Center in Nags Head has raised over 6 million dollars, and the center’s doors will open this December.
Cancer has personally touched our lives, as Mark and I both lost our fathers to this devastating disease. We are currently supporting Mark’s sister through her second battle with breast cancer and we have friends who are fighting this horrible disease now as well. We are grateful for our own health and the success of our business, and we strongly believe in giving back to our community. Our journey began 27 years ago when we moved to the Outer Banks with our young children and started volunteering as a family at various school functions, food drives, ACS Relay for Life, and many other events.
We warmly invite you to consider sponsoring this event or purchasing tickets to attend. Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions. We would be delighted to have you join us, enjoy delicious food, groove to incredible music, and help make a positive impact on our community.
